Polignano a Mare is a municipality on the Adriatic 35 km south of Bari.It can be reached by car by SS16 (45 min.) or by train from Central Station (30 min.).  The oldest part of the town rises on a rocky spur over the Adriatic Sea. Of great naturalistic interest are: its sea caves, the historic center and the remains of Roman domination. Among them, the bridge of the Traiana Trail, which can still be traversed, crosses Lama Monachile, the deep creek just north of the historic center. Since 2008, Polignano a Mare has always received the Blue Flag award from the Foundation for Environmental Education to European coastal resorts, that meet quality criteria relating to bathing water parameters and the service offered in relation to parameters such as beach cleanliness and Tourist destinations.
